Don’t Bore Your Visitors - Keep Them THINKING! Should keep visitors engaged and interested Should have a natural flow to the website Not too confusing or too simple. Website should be functional above all else Browser should load the page quickly Easily discernable text Navigating website is easy Engaging and interesting web content

This article: stipulates that within the confines of a website a certain amount of the website itself should be dedicated to content and a design that is engaging enough to keep visitors browsing through the page and engaging with the content available. Furthermore, the website should be designed in a way that it is NEITHER over complicated or too simple. Adding on, visitors that land on the page SHOULDN’T have to wait too long to load the page neither as well as be put through having to read hard to read text. Finally, first and foremost a website SHOULD be fully functional before considering any design elements as why would a visitor stay on a nonfunctional website. DXIT.co.uk (2014) supports the authors’ points by stating that websites should incorporate a certain number of characteristics when putting the design into consideration these being; user-friendliness, perfect content, fast loading, and finally functionality. As an example to what the author stated in the article, this website for No More Hazards, a folk duo band below would demonstrate. ANALYSIS

The following website demonstrates a simple, yet functional design. The following screenshot shows lyrics to the band’s page that is engaging to their fans.

Don’t Make Them Wait! To be successful, must download quickly AND look good Instead of graphics, use colour schemes Graphic images small as possible Use solid colours when designing Only leave the extra graphic if it will make people come back Viewers will appreciate less waiting time

ANALYSIS The article mainly focuses around the loading time of the website. The factors that contribute to the loading time are the size of graphics and complexity of the design. This article mentioned that in order to for a website to be deemed successful, not only must it download fast, it must also look good. Basically, the author of this article is an advocate for all things minimal. I agree with this article as it has so many benefits; minimalist sites load faster, take fewer server resources, and are often faster to develop than more graphically complicated designs (Chapman, 2014). The extra graphic should only be placed in the website if it will definitely ensure the return of the visitor to the website as it will contribute to the increase in waiting time. Waiting time is very important as according to Moz (2012) it is far more likely to lose some prospective customers simply because they can get the service elsewhere, without having to wait for a page to load. The website below incorporates all of these attributes into its design.

Using only solid colours when designing Small sized graphics used 1. Simple, 2. Appealing, 3. Very small waiting time.

Find Out What Colors Will Cause Your Visitors to HATE You 1 ) Pure yellow strains your eye more than any other color This website age=8http:// age=8 provides examples of bad websites. When entering this website, you will notice the background color (yellow) that strains your eyes The image below shows a different shade of yellow used in an adverti sement. According to designmore.com, its states that using yellow, although still advised to use sparingly, for advertisements will receive more attention from the viewer's eye. designmore.com Also, according to psychology.com/ psychology.com/, it states that yellow symbolizes playfulness, happy and light- hearted.

2) Do not make large parts of your web site with bright color. This website is filled with bright colors. It begins with a massive striking logo followed by fonts that are an eye sore.

3) Red makes your eyes tired and weary The image below shows a website that is completely in red. When this image is stared at for even a short period of time, you can feel your eyes become tired and fatigued. Imagine this image in a large screen !

Navigation Ensure that all visitors enter site from the home page and proceed to click on hyperlinks in an orderly fashion Name or logo of company should appear along with page name should be on top of every page Use different color schemes to indicate which page that has already visited to not confuse users. Should put links in context, gives insight on where the link will take them. Uses of link titles to improves navigation usability

ANALYSIS The article from Designmore.com illustrates the proper manner to navigate users, as many users are on their websites with a certain goals and mission to find information that could help them. Therefore, it is crucial to first have a fitting websites navigation planning, this allows designers to plan and organize their information thus making it easier to follow steps that is user friendly. It is vital to make sure that users knows exactly where they are and where are they going therefore, the uses of potraying the hompage and have hyperlinks are significant. You can then interlink pages within the content of your site. If you want visitors to go from your blog to your ‘Services’ page, then be sure to use the content within that blog post to link it to your ‘Services’ page. When choosing the words to hyperlink to your ‘Services’ page, it would be smart to use the keywords from your keyword list. (Raft, 2011) Make all navigation elements clickable links. When using multiple categorical divisions in your navigation, all heading elements should be clickable links. This is true even with drop-down menus where clicking a sub-category link may be the natural inclination of the visitor. (DeGeyter, 2012)
