Chromosomes and Characteristics  Chromosomes carry genes and come in pairs  Genes come in different varieties and these are called alleles  We have two alleles for each trait, one from each parent  The combination of alleles is the genotype  The characteristics that are produced are the phenotype (Hint, the following pretty much sums up question 2 on page 23)
