Aikin Elementary in New Caney ISD is getting a new building, a new location, and a new name – Tavola Elementary. The new building will open at the beginning of the school year.

The students helped me (the school counselor) build it, and they help maintain it. I also use it as a way to talk to reluctant students.

Classroom Projects 5 th graders created medieval potatoes to demonstrate their knowledge of a novel they read in class. The district hired art teachers, so students receive one hour of art instruction per week. 3 rd graders created cereal box biographies.

How to Register All children 5 years of age, or under 21 years of age on the first day of September of a scholastic year and whose parents or legal guardians are residents of the New Caney Independent School District will be admitted free of tuition to the public schools. Age Requirements Pre kindergarten: A child must be four years of age ON OR BEFORE September 1st. Kindergarten: A child must be five years of age ON OR BEFORE September 1st. First Grade: A child must be six years of age ON OR BEFORE September 1st.
