Community and Service Reflection By: Aya Shouhdy

Introduction  How did you become involved with this project? How or why did you choose this project?  I became involved with this project by the morning announcements and by my friends that did art club last year. Also, in every new school year I choose to do this project and then finish it so, I don’t stress a lot about it.  I choose this to do this project because last year I had fun doing it and I really enjoyed being apart of one family, Qa’s family.

What?  What is the project or the activity? (Tell about that project you joined.)  What did I do for the project – what did you do, what was your job, what part did you play?  I joined Art Club. In term 1 we help/ do the props for the school’s play that happens in mid of term 1.The props for the play are done by the students with a teacher or teachers mentoring the students.  My job for this project is to help create the props for “ Charlie and the chocolate factory”, I did the chocolate bar and fix some lollipops painting done by other students.

So What?  What actually happened and how did you feel about the project?  What was the most important idea?  What did you learn? ( next slide)  What actually happened is I did some props for the play and help my “school mates” and have fun with my friends, talk gossip and work and enjoy our time. I also took pictures with my iPod to keep memories for this years art club.  The most idea I think “Art Club” is making clear to us is cooperation and teamwork can lead to success. Without teamwork, how can you win a match and without teamwork comes under cooperation. Without cooperation how can you finish something you did in groups and then end up fighting. You need cooperation to finish the work and to solve the problem. Without these two main ideas you can’t be successful in what you are doing.

So What? (cont)  What did you learn?  I learnt that cooperating with people and telling what you think can lead to many ideas and with these ideas you can finish what you need to get done. Also, I learnt that when you divide task among people you finish what the teacher wanted us to do. Moreover, I learnt that you need to choose the right colors in order to make the art work look good and neat. I learnt that people choose can be different and I don’t always have to agree with them at time. People have the choose I must respect them. I learnt that when a group of people is doing something in order to get do with it you need cooperation. I have meet and worked with people I don’t get well with and I have cooperated well with them. I learnt you can’t always work with your friends, your going to meet and work with people you don’t get well with.

Now What?  What is next for you? What have you developed your skills in?  What is next to me is attending “ Get to live Islam” with Mrs. Suzan every Sunday.  I have developed in my skills is cooperating with people I don’t know that well or people I don’t get along with that well. It’s life!

Now What? (cont)  How did the project make you feel? What do you think you will try next year or next time you choose a service project?  The project made me feel proud of what I have done and made me feel I can do anything that I am weak at doing.  Next year (hopefully) I will do something else like get to live Islam, anything else than art club. I will choose a service that I have not done before and sound fun like Art Club.
