EMPOWER PEOPLE was founded in 2006 during a March on foot against female foeticide and Gender inequality from Jind to Hisar of Haryana by a group of dedicated Youths from different socio-cultural backgrounds. The organisation is gradually taking form and shape of a social movement, with a few community based organisations in ten states of India.
The organization is singularly focusing on work with victims and potential victims of bride trafficking and different forms of violence against women. Bride trafficking is form of trafficking in which young girls are being sold and resold in the name of marriage.

EMPOWER PEOPLE has developed a people’s module to combat bride trafficking Which include prevention, Intervention, rehabilitation empowerment and to organize survivors of Bride Trafficking The people’s module targets livelihood, development and equal participation to prevent the social crimes such as forced marriage, honour crimes to address the issue of Bride trafficking.
Success stories and learning At least 4000 women have been rescued since 2006, 40 out of these are now working as community leaders. And engaged as leaders of our thematic programs with an independent social Identity. EMPOWER PEOPLE has created 20 CBOs and 252 village commune under leadership of these amazing ladies

Our comrades are working at the risk of their lives Right based approach is second challenge to face. not only because non-cooperation of Government and law enforcement agencies, Media and Academics but also a large section of society doesn’t want us to be there. Opportunities There are not only sad stories of women but there are many strong inspiration and techniques of survivals exists in the field which should be told to inspire the people in difficult circumstances. Survivor-leaders of Bride trafficking are brave and fearless women who can be torch bearer of civil rights movement for equal distribution of Natural resources and democratic rights.
