Vocabulary Warm Up This is supposed to help you with your vocabulary test!!!

Words and definitions 1- perspective- point of view 2- speculate- think about or make up theories about a subject; guess at 3- standard-idea or thing to which other things are compared 4- standard- normal; average 5- unique- one of a kind 6- verify- make sure something is true; confirm

Words used in sentences 1- You were asked to write an essay on a character’s perspective of love in “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet”. 2- In science, when you speculate what the outcome of an experiment might be, it is called your hypothesis. 3- Michael Jordan set the standard for what a great basketball player is.

Words used in sentences 4- Students graduating from WHS, and moving on to a good university is standard. 5- Each student is unique in the way that they learn; that is what makes them so interesting! 6- After you create a hypothesis, you usually complete an experiment to verify whether your hypothesis was correct or not.

Now, your turn… For one extra credit point on Friday’s vocabulary test, create a sentence with each word used appropriately. Save your paper, and add sentences on each day, so that you have a complete list to study from Thursday night. You should start studying these 5 words today!!! Make sure you know them by tomorrow!!!
