Welcome to the PASeries Training Presentation. This presentation is intended to provide basic training in how to administer PASeries assessments and interpret the results through online reports.
What is PAS eries ? Pearson PASeries™ (Progress Assessment Series™) Is a set of pre-built, formative assessments for that the Maidez program will be using for Reading and Mathematics Provides multiple measures to monitor growth over time Uses scientific scales to measure progress and forecast growth
Types of Tests Reading Grades 3-8 Screener and Progress Tests Mathematics Grades 3-8 Three types of tests available –Screener –Progress –Diagnostic ( not using)
PAS eries Features & Benefits Quick results Teachers receive immediate results via online reports Reports are available at the student, class, school, district and state levels Teachers are provided with student responses as well as scores
PAS eries Features & Benefits Ease of use Stable and secure software –Used in high stakes testing for more than 5 years –Delivered more than 1 million secure tests online in May 2006 –All data encrypted Easy to use web-based administrative site –Intuitive navigation and drop-down boxes make it easy to perform administrative tasks –Individual user IDs and logins to control access Robust, secure testing software –Student friendly interface and navigation –All tools required for testing included in software – calculators, ruler and protractor
PAS eries Reading provides … Tests for Grades 3-8 Screener test for placement for each grade Three progress assessments for each grade to measure growth through the year Three level tests within each progress assessment to target student ability Above level tests, On level tests, Below level tests 10 tests per grade for a total of 60 tests (including screeners) Results reported using the Lexile scale
PAS eries Reading Tests Measures comprehension and vocabulary Multiple-choice item format 36 items per test Designed to be delivered in one class period (40-50 min) Screener given at beginning of the program Progress assessments given sessions
PASeries Reading measures progress using the scientific Lexile scale Ties scores to other assessment instruments and instructional materials Matches reader ability and text difficulty, allowing individualized monitoring of progress Forecasts student performance at the time of your high stakes test after taking at least 2 tests Are the most widely adopted reading measures in use today PAS eries Reading Scale
PAS eries Mathematics provides … Tests for Grades 3-8 Screening test for placement Six progress tests for each grade level to measure growth In-depth diagnostic testing by strand for targeting instruction 15 to 16 tests per grade for a total of 93 tests (including screeners, progress and diagnostic tests) Results reported using the Quantile scale
Math Screener Test Determines student’s initial level of mathematical achievement Designed to be at the difficulty of the previous grade level - end of year
PAS eries Mathematics Progress Tests Measures the NCTM strands: numbers and operations, geometry, algebra (patterns and functions), data analysis and probability, and measurement Multiple-choice item format 30 items per test Tests increase in difficulty Designed to be delivered in one class period (40-50 min) Screener given at beginning of program Progress assessments given every sessions
In addition to industry-standard Lexile reading measures, PASeries is the first assessment to use Quantile math measures A scientific approach to measure students’ math achievement Forecasts student performance at the time of your high stakes test after taking at least 2 tests Ties scores to other assessment instruments and instructional materials PAS eries Mathematics measures progress with the Quantile scale
