Picking a Picture Book

Click on the NoveList Plus icon on the library’s computer. Go to the Browse section.

Go to the Younger Kids section Click on RECOMMENDED READS.

Look through the list of subjects. Click on one that looks interesting.

Look through the list of specific subjects. Choose one and click on it.

Read the summary of the books. Choose one and click on the title.

Click on ADD TO FOLDER.

Choose a few more books. You can do it by clicking on FIND SIMILAR BOOKS or by using the BACK arrow.

You can also find books in NoveList Plus by using the FIND box.

1.Type the word you are searching for in the FIND box. 2.Go to the LIMIT TO section 3.Click in the YOUNGER KIDS box. 4.Use the drop down box to choose FICTION 5.Click on the SEARCH button

After you have chosen several books, click on FOLDER. Then PRINT your list.

Look up the books in the library’s computer catalog.

Decide which book you like best. Find the books in the library. Read the books.

The story shouldn’t be too long. The book should have colorful pictures. The pictures should be big enough for the kids to see in a group. Books in rhyme are good to read aloud. Book with words or phrases that are repeated several times are also good choices. Pick a story you like! Some Things to Remember

Practice, practice, practice Read the story with expression. Practice reading the book out loud several times to yourself. Practice reading the story to someone else so they can tell you if you are reading too fast or too quietly.
