PURPOSE We will: discuss the goals of AdvanceKentucky. share the success of AdvanceKentucky in our schools. give an overview of the elements of success. – Highlight on those aspects that are easily reproducible without the support of the program You will: formulate what next steps your school can take to support a more successful AP program.

ELEMENTS OF SUCCESS

WHAT THE DATA SAYS:

GOAL-SETTING Clear goals – Increase and diversify AP math, science, and English (MSE) enrollment – Increase qualifying AP MSE scores Communicated to all stake-holders (students, parents, teachers, building and district administration) Everyone on board and focused on goals

OPEN ENROLLMENT Getting rid of gatekeepers – Entrance exam requirements – Cumbersome summer assignment – Grade requirements Accepting students who are wanting to challenge themselves
