THE INTERVIEW SETTING GOALS & CHALLENGES  At first my interview was with Executive Director Geoffrey Henry  Developing & Enhancing Skills for Administrative Duties  Learning the Responsibilities of an Executive Director  Obtaining Knowledge on how to run a nursing home facility

 Working through personal issues during internship period  Not having liable transportation  Not being able to stay longer when they needed me or not being available to report more often  Lacking flexibility and availability due to me having fulltime employment

 When I did report I gave it 110% and worked hard  I process great interpersonal skills  I am a team player  I am good problem solver  I have a warm personality

 Millcroft is a for profit Nursing Community for the Elderly  It is a five star Elderly Care Living Facility with three levels of Care:  Health Care  Assisted Living  Independent Living  Residents are served from De & All other States  Over 65% of the residents are over poverty level  Millcroft does not receive any state or federal financial assistance

 Gathering Data- Mrs. Margaret was one of the first resident’s I was introduced to.  Reflecting - Had conversations with her and she never seemed to be a bother.  Identifying Relevant- Understood that I did not know the resident’s issues or restriction 

 Examining Dissonance- the nursing staff explained she is always thirty, always has to go to the bathroom because she drinks a lot  Articulating Learning- I did not know the residents restriction nor did it set well with me that they would not either correct or give attention to her request  Developing a plan- I don’t think she was being abused, but could have been handled differently

 Older Generation  Face to Face Verbal  By using telephone (not cell phone)  Postal Mail

 Blind  Deaf  Repeating Yourself

 Feeling comfortable with others disabilities & communicating with them

 Who’s There  Elderly ages 50 and up  From Various of States  From all Social Classes

 Being aware of others cultures, beliefs, languages and actions will limit the misunderstanding between me and a resident or employee.

 There was not much writing required during my internship

 Again not that much reporting during my internship

 Balancing Internship, Employment and personal matters  Having Flexibility and Availability for Intern hours  Coming up with a plan  Setting goals and trying to obtain those goals  Making time for myself  Overcoming procrastination

 Don’t focus on the negative  Embrace the positive  Take a deep breath  Keep it moving  Don’t give up
