Managing Time A 6 th Grade Guide to Locker Use and Avoiding Tardies

There will be times in sixth grade where you will have many things to juggle at the same time. If you haven’t already learned, you must manage your time well.

Lockers Practice opening your locker! Practice before and after school until you are proficient. Practice during advisory until you are proficient.

Lockers If you still have trouble, here are some tips. Pick certain times to go to your locker and get the supplies you need for several classes. This will help with not getting tardies and allow for restroom visits during the passing periods that you don’t need to go to your locker. The next slide will give you an example. This is only a sample and your schedule might be different.

Go to locker here and get supplies for math and science Go to locker here and get supplies for PE, History and ELA Go to locker here and get supplies for choir and Reading Let’s say your schedule looks like this. PeriodClassRoom # 1-2Math406 3Science404 4Lunch 5P.E.Gym 6History413 7ELA310 8ChoirChoir room 9Reading412 Go to locker and get homework Restroom/ Water

Activity Have students take out their schedule. If they do not have their schedule, have them take out a piece of paper and write their schedule on it. Have students mark locker visits and restroom/water visits in the passing periods on the schedule. Remember! It takes more time to change hallways so do not go to your locker when you are going to a different hallway.

Tardies Tardy sweeps begin this week! Four tardies equal one referral. This means you will be called to the assistant principals office and assigned lunch detention. Hints to avoid being tardy Walk on the right. Practice opening your locker. Get to class quickly. Talk to your friends at lunch not in the hall.
