#13 -Millard Fillmore  Born: January 7, 1800  Birthplace: Locke, New York  Political Party: Whig  Term:  Vice President: none  Children: 2; 1 boy and 1 girl  Died: March 8, 1874

#13 -Millard Fillmore  At a young age he became an apprentice to a wool carder.  1819: attended New Hope Academy for 6 months.  1823: admitted to the bar. (lawyer) He opens his own law practice in Buffalo, New York.  : elected to the New York state legislature.

#13 -Millard Fillmore  : elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as an Anti-Mason.  : elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a Whig – to oppose Andrew Jackson.  1849: Becomes Taylor’s Vice President.  July 9, 1850: Taylor dies in office.  : appointed 13 th President of the U.S.

#13 -Millard Fillmore  1850: Compromise of 1850 passed. It includes the much debated Fugitive Slave Act.  He is unable to be re-elected to a second term.  Whig party loses ground and is dismantled.

 1858: marries Caroline McIntosh. Retires from politics.  March 8, 1874: dies in Buffalo, New York.
