History Graduated from RIT in 1970 with Bachelor Degree in Accounting Became a CPA in 1998 after raising children Started working for H R Block in 1987 part time Word got around among deaf people that I do taxes  Business grew by word of mouth and now have my own tax practice.

Why Do We Have to File Taxes? $ Helps pay for schools $ Helps pay for highways $ Helps pay for police $ Helps pay for Medicare for disabled people $ Helps pay for Social Security for retirement

Questions How many of you worked?  You file to get your taxes back Are you a dependent on your parents’ return? If not dependent on parents’ return  Earned Income Credit  College Tuition Credit Are any of you married? Any of you have children?

Earned Income Credit $43,998 ($49,078 married filing jointly) with three or more qualifying children $40,964 ($46,044 married filing jointly) with two qualifying children $36,052 ($41,132 married filing jointly) with one qualifying child $13,660 ($18,740 married filing jointly) with no qualifying children
