MEDGROOVE 2011 General Rules and Mechanics

Q UALIFICATIONS 1.Only member schools of APMCSN-NCR are allowed to join the competition. 2.Dancers must be currently enrolled in their respective Colleges during the time of the application and competition. 3.Dancers should have a group name. 4.Only one (1) official entry per school is allowed. 5.Dancers may be all male/female, or mixed.

D ANCE F ORMS A combination of ALL the following dance forms must be used: – jazz – modern dance – street dance No folk dancing, ballroom dancing, or any other dance form will be allowed aside from those mentioned.

N UMBER OF D ANCERS 1.There should be at least seven (7), but not more than twenty five (25), members in each group. 2.This includes ALL members who are onstage, regardless of their being dancers, lifters or boosters.

1.Performances must have a duration of at least five (5) minutes but not exceeding ten (10) minutes, including entrance and exit.  Points will be deducted for every 30-second excess (0.25 per 30 seconds). Time starts when first member of the dance troupe sets foot on stage. 2.Props may be used as long as they will not hinder the next performance.  No explosives, open flames, fluids, weapons and deadly instruments, harnesses, or other bulky machinery allowed. 3.Music must be in a CD or MP3 format. 4.Criteria for Judging:  4.1 Creativity and Choreography- 30%  4.2 Technique and Synchronization- 30%  4.3 Interpretation of the Theme- 20%  4.4 Overall Artistic Impact - 20% P RESENTATION

B OARD OF J UDGES The decision of the board of judges shall be final and irrevocable.

A WARDS Trophies and cash prizes will be given to the first, second, and third place winners.
