SMARTWork Vietnam SMARTWork (Strategically Managing AIDS Response Together) is a program funded by the United States Department of Labor International Labor Affairs Bureau and implemented by the Academy for Educational Development in six countries: Dominican Republic, Haiti, Nigeria, Ukraine, Vietnam and Zimbabwe. In Vietnam: Thai Binh, Haiphong, Baria-Vung Tau, Dong Nai, TP HCM, Quang Nam Project commenced in Sept and will conclude in Sept Budget: US$602,000

Activities to date day workshops on implementing programs and policies in workplaces conducted with over 500 employer, union and government participants Large scale training workshops on HIV/AIDS prevention and awareness for shop floor workers and managers Needs assessment conducted in sample enterprises in 4 provinces and in numerous foreign-owned companies in HCMC Core group of enterprises (25) selected and TA provided in each for the development and implementation of programs and policies Agreement from MOLISA to consider changes in Labour Code to provide protection for workers infected and affected by HIV/AIDS
