Typography is the art of setting and arranging type.

What is a typeface?  There are six categories of fonts these are called typefaces. 1.Serif 2.Sans-Serif 3.Blackletter 4.Script 5.Symbols 6.Monotype

Serif Typefaces ABC

Sans-Serif typefaces Serifs

Serif Typefaces older and well established reliable, stable and solid

Sans-Serif typefaces modern, high tech, and young

First typefaces ever to be used on a letterpress hard to read heavy metal bands or rap bands

Script Typefaces back in time. Some look like they are from the 50’s (like the Coca Cola logo) handwriting

Symbol Typefaces Sometimes these are called Ornaments, Zapf dingbats, symbols or wingdings.

Monotype Typefaces Monotype typefaces have the same wide space between each letter. This makes it look like it is from a typewriter. kerning = the space between each letter. You can have little or no space between each letter. It can also look like a video game or technology.

What is a font?  In typography, a font is traditionally defined as a complete character set of a single size and style of a particular typeface.typeface  So for example the typeface I am using is a serif typeface. The font that I am using is Times Regular at size 32 pt.

Assignment #11 Using your first name pick a font for each of each of these typeface categories: 1.Serif 2.Sans-serif 3.Blackletter 4.Script 5.Monotype 6.Which ones of these typeface categories represents you? Why?
