How has the artist tried to convey that something special is going on? Think about colours, the way people look /act etc.

This painting is by a Franciscan painter. He has included two extra people. St Claire and St Francis. Why do you think he has done this? What surrounds Jesus? Why do think the artist has done this?

Where is Moses in this picture? How do you know? How has the artist painted the disciples? Why? Which figure is most important ? How do you know this? What does this figure carry in his hand? Why do you think there is a very large circle surrounding the central figure?

Who do you think the figure at the very top of the painting is meant to be? Why do you think that?

Who is at the very top of the picture? What do they represent? How do you know which figure is Jesus? How has the artist drawn the disciples?

How is the artist showing something special is taking place?

What is similar in this picture to the previous one?

This is a vey unusual modern picture you can hardly see any of the details. You cannot see Jesus at all. What can you see? Why do you think the artist has chosen to put in this amazing colour? Look closely at the light. What can you see at the heart of it? Why do you think this is there?
