JESUS – A MAN LIKE NO OTHER JESUS IS TEMPTED

The 40 years the children of Israel were in the wilderness. The 40 days Moses was on Mount Sinai receiving the 10 Commandments. The 40 days Jesus was in the desert 1 ST SUNDAY OF LENT

MARK 1 V12-14 AT ONCE THE SPIRIT SENT HIM OUT INTO THE WILDERNESS, AND HE WAS IN THE WILDERNESS FORTY DAYS, BEING TEMPTED BY SATAN. HE WAS WITH THE WILD ANIMALS, AND ANGELS ATTENDED HIM.

MARK 1 V Jesus is sent into the wilderness…where he is alone but knows God’s presence 2. He was led into the wilderness by the Holy Spirit 3.This is before his ministry started but after He received the Holy Spirit

MARK 1 V 9-11 AT THAT TIME JESUS CAME FROM NAZARETH IN GALILEE AND WAS BAPTIZED BY JOHN IN THE JORDAN. JUST AS JESUS WAS COMING UP OUT OF THE WATER, HE SAW HEAVEN BEING TORN OPEN AND THE SPIRIT DESCENDING ON HIM LIKE A DOVE. AND A VOICE CAME FROM HEAVEN: “YOU ARE MY SON, WHOM I LOVE; WITH YOU I AM WELL PLEASED.”

JUST BEFORE….

“ If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.”

Satan knew Jesus could make bread. Satan uses the word “if” – he was questioning whether or not Jesus was truly God…he was trying to get Jesus to prove himself. Satan knew Jesus was hungry.

Satan knew Jesus could make bread…Jesus knew it was His time of preparation. Satan uses the word “if” – he was questioning whether or not Jesus was truly God…he was trying to get Jesus to prove himself…Jesus knew WHO He is. He is the Son of God. Satan knew Jesus was hungry…Jesus knew why He was there.

Satan again uses the word “if”…he was again trying to get Jesus to prove himself. Satan knew the Bible and uses scripture to reinforce his challenge.

Satan again uses the word “if”…he was again trying to get Jesus to prove himself…Jesus stands firm in His identity. Satan knew the Bible and uses scripture to reinforce his challenge…Jesus knew the true meaning of the scripture and quoted it.

Satan offers Jesus the chance to rule the world if Jesus would just worship him.

Satan offers Jesus the chance to rule the world if Jesus would just worship him… Jesus knows that all things are in Gods timing. He knew what his purpose on earth was. He knew that God calls us to worship Him and Him alone.

Jesus knew the Bible and could use scripture to stand firm in the truth…Do we know the Bible well enough to be able to do this? Jesus kept the big picture in mind, He kept his eyes on God…We need to remember to be doing this every single day. Jesus REALLY knew who He was, His identity in Christ…Are we secure in our Identity?
