1. Leading involves getting others to perform the necessary tasks by motivating them to achieve the organization’s goals. 2. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs theory advises managers to use leadership styles that fit situational needs. 3. Motivation is the process by which a person, group, or organization consciously monitors performance and tracks corrective action. 4. Accounts Department is responsible for providing a detailed record of the money coming in and going out of the business and prepares accounts as a basis for financial decisions.

5. Democratic leaders hold onto as much power and decision-making as possible. 6. Motivation is defined as the art or process of stimulating to action, providing an incentive or motive, especially for an act. 7. Post-control is important because they make sure that proper directions are set and that the right resources are available to accomplish them. 8. Purchasing function deals with all aspects of selling to customers; the human resource function carries out marketing research, organizes advertising and product promotion.

9. Laissez-faire type of leadership is most effective when staff are ready and willing to take on responsibility, they are motivated, and can be trusted to do their jobs. 10. Abraham Maslow arranges human needs into a pyramid-shaped model with basic physiological needs at the bottom and self-actualization needs at the top. 11. Budgetary control is a technique of managerial control through budgets. It is the essence of financial control. 12. Research and development of an organization is usually placed under human resource department.

13. One of the characteristics of authoritarian style of leadership is that communication is top- down & one-way. 14. According to Herzberg, presence of satisfiers (achievement, growth and recognition) will have positive effect on motivation and satisfaction. 15. Management Information Systems (MIS) help the management to properly control the organization. 16. Marketing is not just advertising, promotion, and selling. Marketing actually covers many more activities that are carried out by the business.

17. Authoritarian style of leadership is likely to be most effective when used with skilled, free- thinking and experienced subordinates. 18. McGregor believes that managers with theory Y assumption act in a very directive ”command- and-control” fashion. Hence, people have very little say over work. 19. Inspection is defined as checking the product through visual or testing examination, at the input stage, transformation stage or output stage, in terms of quality against standards. 20. Production department is responsible for attracting and developing a quality workforce.
