What does College and Career Readiness mean?

HS Administrator Wiki

Resources to Stay Informed Administrative Wiki  Content Updates- Stay informed!  Principal and API meetings- ask questions!  Common Core & Assessments  PD & Training  Text Complexity for School Leaders  Argument Training

Adler knew about CCSS…  Read and annotate the selection (we should model what we want the students to do)  Underline sections that directly relate to CCSS  Choose the one line that is most powerful in the excerpt- be ready to share the line and rationale with your table  What transformations have you already seen in your school? What do you want to see as you work towards deep implementation?

Common Core Tri-State Rubric Why does this matter? Teacher Evaluation Common Core Certification Phase III and IV Increase Graduation Rates and Students Who are College and Career Ready

Common Core Tri-State Rubric 1. Read each item 2. Highlight or check those items that are tied to your SIP Plan

What’s important?  What quantitative measure did you use to evaluate the text?  When you evaluated the qualitative features, what did you find that would challenge students?  How did you have students engage in those texts? Teacher Evaluation Standard 3: Teachers know the content they teach

What’s Important?  How did you construct the unit to provide students the opportunity to read and write as a means to learn the content?  What strategies are you using to develop the student’s vocabulary throughout the learning process?  How have you supported students as we move towards using evidence to support answers and assertions. Teacher Evaluation Standard 3: Teachers know the content they teach

What to ask?  How have you tried to cultivate the interest of the students in the unit?  What aspects of the curriculum tend to be difficult for students? How do you scaffold and support students?  How are you scaffolding the reading and writing in the classroom to make sure all students have the opportunity to engage in grade-level rigor.  What opportunities are present for students to direct their own learning?

What to ask?  How did you assess students throughout the unit?  What insights did you learn from those assessments?  What impact does the degree of learning demonstrated in this unit have on your next unit of study?  How are you using reading and writing to create opportunities for students to demonstrate learning? Teacher Evaluation Standard 4: Teachers facilitate learning for their students
