NETWORK CARD A circuit board that has many special cables which connect the computer to the rest of the network
Modem Where the phone line is connected to the computer
Sound Card What connects sound systems to the computer, such as speakers and microphone
CASE A covering for the inner parts of the computer that both protects it and holds the parts together
A board with buttons on it that are for the user to give commands or put information onto the computer
CPU It stands for central processing unit
An electronic device controlled by your hand that controls where the cursor goes on the screen of the computer monitor. It usually uses a laser or track ball to detect movement.
Fan (for battery) A fan within the computer used to cool off the battery so it won’t overheat
CD ROM drive- reads data on CDs and plays what it on CDs CD ROM / CD / DVD / Blu-Ray
Ram/Rom RAM-Random Access Memory Installed in slots on the motherboard Makes computer run faster
M OTHERBOARD A circuit board in the computer that holds many important components in a computer Smaller circuit boards can be inserted in the motherboard
A unit that visually displays what you are doing on the computer Monitor
A card that transmits images onto the screen Graphics Card
Output A port on the computer that the user can use to connect exterior devices to the computer such as speakers
* A port in the computer usually used to put information on the computer from another device
Software Computer programs that can be loaded onto a computer such as microsoft office or final cut pro
HEATSINK A device that keeps the computer from overheating
A sealed unit which stores information on a computer
