Writing The Story

Story Organization After writing the lead: –Introduce important information you were not able to include in the lead. –Indicate the significance or so-what factor –Elaborate on the information presented in the lead –Continue introducing new info by order of importance –Develop ideas in the order you introduced them –Generally, use only one idea in each paragraph

Story Organization Be coherent Rank actions in order of importance Create logical story structures Express the relationship between ideas properly Use transitions Think clearly

Story Organization Write the FULL story with facts given. Don’t get locked into the wording. You may have to rewrite. Be concise and make sure your sentences are clear and easy to read.

Story Organization Make sure the story is coherent and logical. Make sure the story flows. You don’t have to use all the fact given if they are not relevant. Review the fact. Determine what is most important. Write the lead.
