Drive to the Basket When a player with the ball starts a drive to the basket from an official’s PCA, that official has primary coverage of the player and the ball all the way to the basket – even if the ball moves into another official’s PCA.

SUBSTITUTIONS Off official closest to table will beckon Subs. Off official opposite table could be the closest official to the table. EXAMPLE Throw-In official is trail at division line, table-side Lead official is on the end line, table-side Center official is opposite table and should step towards table and beckon substitutes (not Lead)

Switches Calling official goes table side to report fouls. Table side official fills in for calling official, except going opposite direction. No Long switch. NFHS Non-calling officials – WATCH THE PLAYERS.

FAST BREAK OR TRANSITIONS
Transitions New lead look over your shoulder. –Do not look at ball. –Watch your 1/3 of the court Pass and Crash –Ball goes to L or C primary, other official calls the crash. Center –Come in and help on intentional fouls. –Come across to pick up block/charge.
GET IT RIGHT
Special NFHS Conditions We do not make the “long switch” when a foul occurs. Calling official always goes table side in the front court. C or “Opposite” Table has last shot. High school mechanics only… –Signal at the spot –Foul reporting box. Black shoes.
Non- Signals
Summary Know and work your primary. Help in secondary only when needed. Get the obvious - regardless of PCA. Table side on fouls. Last shot –pregame and remind. PCA is smaller – better performance is expected. Relax and officiate.
