+ Properties Relationships that are always true fro real numbers are called properties. Properties are rules used to rewrite and compare expressions. Two algebraic expressions are equivalent expressions if they have the same value for all values of the variable(s).

+ Properties of Real Numbers: Commutative Properties The Commutative Properties of Addition and Multiplication state that changing the order of the addends does not change the sum and changing the order of the factors does not change the product.
