Values

Values (page 10) What is a value? Anything in life that is important to us Everyone has their own set of values Values will vary from person to person, family to family, and country to country. There are two types of values: Tangible and Intangible.

Types of Values Tangible values are the material things in our life—things we can buy with money –Cars, houses, electronics, etc. Intangible values are non-materialistic things in our life—they don’t cost money –These things are the most important values because they are free and lasting. –Anyone can obtain them whether or not you have money

What are your values? List some of your tangible values and intangible values You need at least 6 of each!

Values Our values are determined by how we live When a person lives within their set of values they usually feel good about themselves. They feel at peace with their surroundings and interact with people in a positive manner. On the other hand, if a person acts against their values they will begin to feel guilt and remorse. They will become uneasy with their surroundings and interact in a negative manner with people. –*Start working on the value inventory and ranking on page 11-13

We all have basic needs for intangible values Love –Giving and feeling love, compassion, helping others Justice –Being honest, trusting, and treated fairly Respect –Caring about self, life, property, life and others Knowledge –Continue learning and developing Accomplishment –Creating and Achieving Power –Feeling in control of one’s life and destiny
