1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Objectives  To facilitate the mobility of researchers from their home institution to a host institution in order to:  Encourage academic collaboration;  Encourage joint supervision of students;  Broaden researchers’ horizons. WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Tasks  Task 1: Information gathering  Asking institutions what they could offer.  Asking participants what opportunities they wanted. WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013  To produce the ‘Mobility Browser’ WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Tasks  Task 2: Facilitating Researcher Mobility WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Overview of Work Performed  Creation of a database of potential destinations and contacts (the ‘Mobility Browser’).  Periodic monitoring of members’ plans.  Targeted mail outs to potential mobility candidates.  Follow up process to record mobility trips. WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Achievements  2012  Established the Programme.  Set up the ‘Mobility Browser’ and got partner institutions to contribute.  Few trips executed – but indications of interests from EINS members.  2013  Several trips executed.  High level of interest indicated following a targeted mail campaign in March. WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Feedback from mail out in March  Responses, including rough plans/ideas, from:  22 members  41 affiliate members  Ideas from members include: visiting KAIST, visiting the Nexa Center, inviting an affiliate member to KNAW, visiting the University of Houston.  Ideas from affiliates include visiting UPMC, University of Warwick and TUDelft. WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Issues arising from mail out  Some members were unaware of the Research Mobility Programme.  Many affiliates are interested in visiting partner institutions.  Some members are keen to visit non-EINS institutions to broaden collaboration further. WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Deliverables  D9.1 First report about information of the existing research mobility initiatives. WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Links with other activities  Link with SEA1 – the Research Mobility Programme depends greatly on the Mobility Browser and associated aspects on the drupal website.  Link with SEA4 – some affiliates applying for the Open Call were also interested by the opportunities presented by the Mobility Programme.  Link with IA2 – members have visited other institutions and given guest lectures. WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Future Plans  To chase up reports from members who have already taken part – we are owed 4-5.  To follow up with the plans mentioned by members and affiliates:  To receive reports of their trips.  To ask in what ways they benefited from their mobility experience.  To help affiliate members make contact with EINS partners to explore mobility options. WP: IA1

1st EINS Review, Brussels, 12th April, 2013 Conclusions  Gradual development – apparent lack of interest initially but since last mail out, significant interest exists.  Majority of trips predicted to take place between June 2013 and Dec  This Programme has the potential of having strong links with several other work packages (in particular SEA1, 4 and IA2). WP: IA1
