40 / USAR LOGISTICS DISCUSSION Slide 3: Muster Part One MUSTER  Alerter  Station Folder (held in locked cupboard to protect data) Preformatted with everyone’s details  Initial Crew (Time stamped)  Back up crew logistics to be kept in BW  Back up crew may collect initial crews essentials  Comprehensive contact details (Standard check details confirmed) of both operational personnel and partners.  Initial crew to feed back actual requirements as soon as possible  Initial crew to be allowed home for five minutes to collect essentials

40 / USAR LOGISTICS DISCUSSION Slide 4: Muster Part Two MUSTER  As many first crew to attend as possible  40 to be advised destination and likely duration  We do not think that 40WL should be mobilised as there will already be plenty of pumps at an incident, (Security of pump and equipment at incident), Our role is logistics not operational so pump would be operational. If a pump was really necessary an HQ based pump would be better as it has just water and pump  If 40WL is to be mobilised then a replacement pump should be placed in BW.

40 / USAR LOGISTICS DISCUSSION Slide 5: Dispatch DISPATCH  40SV should be used, better still a crew cab transit would be optimum as it would provide an extremely useful resource on site moving equipment and people.  Where are we to be dispatched to? There is no point in USAR technicians driving prime movers as this exhausts them before they work. 40 crew should undertake all prime mover movements.  40 SV goes to Eastleigh to dispatch drivers, collects a grab bag and then goes straight to the incident to prepare for Prime Mover arrival.

40 / USAR LOGISTICS DISCUSSION Slide 6: Arrival Part One ARRIVAL 40 SV arrives and creates the right environment for equipment management throughout the incident: Logistics to be sited as close to the incident as possible, where this is not possible a forward logistics can be employed although suitable transportation is necessary to move equipment. Excellent communication between back and forward logistics is required with 40 to be at both logistic points.

40 / USAR LOGISTICS DISCUSSION Slide 8: First Four Hours FIRST FOUR HOURS As this is the busiest time for logistics a full crew is essential, logistic roles may be combined:  Equipment recorder  Radio contact/Liaison with ICS  Create and work off early equipment requirement kit  Report back to BW  Record fuel  40 to maintain Prime Mover vehicles and security  Consider lighting

40 / USAR LOGISTICS DISCUSSION Slide 9: Long Term Long Term  Create a service environment for tools  Every 3 hours do incident collections for equipment repatriation  Fuel logistics (this could easily be managed by 40 with enough resources).  40 will manage our own resources through BW liaison with incident commander  Consistantly be aware of the incident and its requirements and ‘be one step ahead’
