TOUCH RUGBY

There are three dominate positions in the game of Touch MiddlesLinksWings

in the centre of the field, between the two links. fit with excellent communication and ball skills (attributes) responsible for `rucking' the ball down the field in attack. give the team their "go-forward" to create opportunities for the outside players. Middles (or Centre) between the middles and wings. the most attacking players good anticipation, acceleration and evasive skills (attributes) also exhibit good spatial awareness and ability to communicate in defence (attributes) Links on each side of the field, outside the link and near the sideline. the main touchdown scorers speed, good anticipation and support skills (attributes) Wings

The definitions on the power point are a guide If you use an attribute of a position make sure you include it in the definition See the example in the next slide

Middles Positions themselves in the centre of the field, between the two links. They must be fit with excellent communication and ball skills. They are responsible for `rucking' the ball down the field in attack. They give the team their "go- forward" to create opportunities for the outside players. An example is when I utilise my acceleration to go forward to create opportunities for my outside players that may put my team in a good scoring position. Although good acceleration is an attribute of a centre, it has not been mentioned so needs to be used in the definition.

To strengthen your example include a type of play using the correct terminology See the example in the next slide

Include types of play I utilise the split when I anticipate an overlap situation that may put my team in a good scoring position I use my good speed to dump and scoop to place my team in a strong position of offence

To increase your chance of victory You also have to be able to defend See the example in the next slide

Defensive examples When the opposition performs a wrap, I use my good communication skills to help my players get into their correct defensive positions. I use my good anticipation skills to try and turn over the ball when the opposition dump and scoop.
