Mission Statement Paulina’s Hot Chocolate’s objective is to sell freshly made, handmade Hot Chocolate to students, staff, and teachers of RKMS in a friendly, happy atmosphere. We promise to not use any preservatives, MSG, pre-made Hot Chocolate, expired milk, and etc. We also strive to make our prices fair and to not lie to our customers about anything related to our product Hot Chocolate and also about our company, Paulina’s Hot Chocolate.

Business Objective Our objective is to serve the customer with an amazing hot chocolate. We will serve the customer in a very fun and happy atmosphere and to attain or to earn a profit of $100 within the 5 sales day period.

Executive Summary Paulina’s Hot Chocolate is a company which sells Hot Chocolate as their main product for sale. The type of customers that we are targeting are the students, staff, and teachers of RKMS. The manager of management and operations at Paulina’s Hot Chocolate is Paul Yi. The business that we are doing right now is only going to sell Hot Chocolate for 5 business days. Our business is located at 3020 Wilshire Boulevard 2nd floor, Room 236.

Products and Services Paulina’s Hot Chocolate sells Hot Chocolate in two different sizes which are Tall and Medium. The prices for the cup size Tall are $1 and the Medium is $2. We can also add chocolate syrup, marshmallows, Sprinkles, whip cream for free of charge with a free candy cane. At Paulina’s Hot Chocolate, we ensure you the finest quality of Hot Chocolate ingredients. We use 100% Grade A Vitamin D Whole Milk, and the highest quality of chocolate powder imported from Switzerland. There is also a special uniqueness in our Hot Chocolate. Other companies does everything handmade, fresh, natural, and most importantly, delicious. Paulina’s Hot Chocolate is always giving refunds, exchanges for free, in which we get 100% customer satisfactory. The cup size Medium, is 20 fluid oz. The cup size Tall is 10 fluid oz. We use 100% recycled cups to save and to eliminate world pollution. The pricing may be a bit steep, but once you taste our Hot Chocolate, you will understand why we keep on insisting that our Hot Chocolate is the best.

Marketing Plan: Market Share and Pie Chart The percent share of the profit that 4 of us each have is 25%. The barriers that we face are our company’s main competitor North Pole Cocoa. We will overcome these barriers by having a better Hot Chocolate than our competitor in terms of quality. Our target customers are RKMS students, staff, and teachers. Competition: The products that our competitor will have is Hot Chocolate. Our major competitor is North Pole Cocoa. They will compete with us across the board. Our service is 100% customer satisfaction, which no competitor can beat. Our beverage percentage from the whole market is 21% from the whole market share due to the other competitors.

Marking Plan: Barriers, Customers Our barriers for sales are that our company is going to have competitive companies. The companies that we are competing against are mostly the three other beverage companies. The main customers that our company is going to have are the RKMS (Rise Kohyang Middle School) students. We are sure that there will be teachers also, but since majority of the customers are students, we will most likely be selling a lot to them.

Operational Plan: Daily Operation, Personnel Paulina’s Hot Chocolate has four employees. Paul Yi is the manager in charge of operations and management. Mr. Yi is experienced as a leader. In addition, Mr. Yi has a lot of experience in doing fundraisers. If Mr. Yi is absent, Mr. Davidson will take his place as the second in charge for the day that Mr. Yi is absent. Mr. Davidson is also dedicated to his work and will oversee that all daily activities are accomplished. Operational Plan: Inventory The inventory that is needed to make our Hot Chocolate includes Grade A Vitamin D Whole Milk, Belgian hot chocolate powder, marshmallows, chocolate syrup, sprinkles, and whipped cream. Half of the inventory is donated and for the other half, we will get it reimbursed. Our daily operations is in Room 236, with 2 desks, placed with our product, manned by our personnel as mentioned above. Any leftover inventory from our sales will be donated to the 8th grade fundraiser.

Financial Plan Our company is raising profit of $20 each business sales day. Our goal it to have earned $100 at the end of the sales week. Paulina’s Hot Chocolate will keep a careful record and write down the profit of our company’s earnings each day. Our plan in general is to have a tight control over financial responsibilities during the 5 sales day period at Paulina’s Hot Chocolate. Paulina’s Hot Chocolate will be using a Business Week Work Log to keep track of our sales. At the end, we will get half of the inventory purchased reimbursed. The remainder of the other half will be donated to the 8th grade fundraiser. At the end of the week, we will report our total earnings.

Sales Forecast & Actual Sales w/ Line Graph Depicting Both If you see the sales forecast, that is what we expected. At Monday we thought that since there isn’t a lot of students who knew this sales so they wouldn’t bring the money. Then Tuesday and Wednesday, they will bring the money and Thursday and Friday they will not buy it. In the actual sales, you can see that we started off with small amount but it grew bigger and bigger until it reaches Thursday then we stopped the sales on Friday.

Essential Questions Answered Q: How did you stay true to yourself in running a business with others? Does your business reflect who you are? A: To stay true to myself in running a business with others, we stayed associated with our group. We were opened to each others and we used each others ideas to make an amazing hot chocolate. Since we were truthful and conscientious, our business was successful and it reflected who we really are. Q: What were the challenges associated with creating and running a business and how did you overcome these challenges? A: The challenges associated with creating and running a business were having trouble agreeing on certain ideas over our opinions. By listening to each other and respecting each other, we were able to come over the challenges that were upon us. Q: If you could do it again, what would you do differently (that you control over) A: If we could do it again, we would definitely change the location of our stand. The other company had same product as our group, but because of the location we lost our potential customers.
