The fifth anniversary of The international curatorial training programme

At first I like to introduce my self my name Mervet Ezzat and I worked as curator in museums sector I was chosen with other three colleges from Egypet to study in the international curatorial training programme in 2008 and today its my pleasure to participate in the fifth anniversary of the programmer. As for me I have gained professionally and personally from attending to the ITP We visited a lot of museums in England like 1- British museum 2- Hornimman museum 3- Manchester museum. 4- Manchester art Gallery. 5- White worth art Gallery. 6-National museum Liverpool 7- Archive department in the Egyptian library in Oxford. In all these museums we had a great idea about.

Store rooms

Conservation and scientific studios Exhibitions designing or display system

Programme of teaching Kids inside the museum

As for me because my work is concerning about under erecting and under development museums so I focused on. The display system in the museums Which include more than one Item 1- The labels 2- The Graphics 3- The brochures of the museums Studied and focused on all the previous Items helping me to do my own work At first we can see examples of the labels of Atone museum

Part of balustrade depicting the Aten, Akhenaton and his family Lime stone. Height. 53 Cm New kingdom – 18 Dynasty – Akhenaton Period ( BC) Tell ell – Amarna, Royal tomb chamber 4 This relief represents the King Akhenaton and Queen offer flowers to the sun disk while the first princess Meritaton shakes a sistrum with a hand and holds the hand of her sister, Meketaton, with the other..

Incomplete head of Nefertiti Dark Quartzite Hight.35,5 cm New kingdom – 18 Dynasty – Akhenaton Period ( BC) Tell el Amarna-workshop of a sculptor This head is the loveliest of the portraits of Queen Nefertiti, the wife of Akhenaton. It belongs to a statue made of several parts The portrait represented with the deformations of that particular style. The oval face reproduces the grace of a woman of Great Spirit. This head of the Queen Nefertiti is the most beautiful portraits of queen, due to the, the natural color of the quartzite..

S econd an example for the Graphics which use as back ground of the gallery A menhotep IV began his reign in 1353 BCE as a traditional ruler but soon abandoned many gods which his predecessor’s worshipped. He focused on a single deity, the Aten visualized as a disk of the sun. And the pharaoh was its high priest. The king Amenhotep IV changed his name to Akhenaton in honor of his new god and he built new capital was called (Akhetaten ) which means (the horizon of Aten ) at a site had been sacred to an other deity. major subject of the reliefs’ scenes in this period focused on the Aten (solar disk), the core of his new religion and represent the King, his queen Nefertiti and their daughters adoring the sun disk, or sitting under its rays. By the ending of the regain of the king Akhenaton His religion began to collapse and the collapse continued under his successors until the king (tut – ankh –Aten ) changed his name to ( tut – ankh – Amon) and return back again to Thebes as a capital of his kingdom.

I have benefited greatly from learning the brochures of the different museums we visited. Like for example the White worth art Gallery and the Manchester museum in making brochures for the Egyptian museums. The White worth art Gallery
