SEMINAR « Inclusive Employment » Vientiane, 7 – 11 October 2013 Who I am ?Who I am ? Brief presentation. NISHEE (SHRESTHA) ADHIKARI PROJECT MANAGER INCLUSION PROJECT HANDICAP INTERNATIONAL NEPAL

To which question would you like this seminar to answer? In Handicap International's Inclusive Employment Policy the 7 modality have been mentioned. In regards to the: "Modality 2 - Developing businesses and the capacities of entrepreneurs, Modality 4 - Constructing a favorable environment for the inclusive employment of people with disabilities and Modality 7 - Supporting employers in the recruitment of people with disabilities", are there any standards and techniques developed by Handicap International for the capacity building of the service providers and other employers with special focus on work place modification including the technical aspects. Few examples from other countries on work place modification initiatives would be helpful to understand clearly and also implement the same in Nepal's context. SEMINAR « Inclusive Employment » Vientiane, 7 – 11 October 2013

Main challenges / stakes for the future in inclusive employment project: Lack of national statistics in the field of disability and lack of statistics on status on employment of people with disabilities in Nepal Lack of state policies and programs for support of employment of people with disabilities Private sector that include business, production and national / multi national-sectoral services are far behind the approaches and motivation of inclusiveness and scarce any written commitment to make their service inclusive The understanding of inclusion varies from agencies to agencies DPOs and other NGOs lack of capacities to provide support to employers on how to employ and retain people with disabilities at work place In HI Nepal's context under current project Policy on inclusive employment should be translated into the guidelines with measurable indicators Facilitation is not enough for convincing the service providers and should have good resources in creating a model in terms of modification SEMINAR « Inclusive Employment » Vientiane, 7 – 11 October 2013
