Hunger Hunger is one of the primal forces of life. Babies cry when they’re hungry, and caretakers respond with food. If you don’t get the food you need, you could die.

Types of hunger 1. Physiological is triggered by signs, like stomach growling and headaches 2. Mouth is triggered by the sights, smell, taste, and memory of food 3. Psychological is triggered by emotions, like enxiety, anger and sadness

Today, almost one person in six does not get enough food to be healthy and lead an active life, making hunger and malnutrition the number one risk to health worldwide -- greater than AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis combined.

Why are people hungry? Hunger and food insecurity have many contributing factors, including poverty, natural disasters, drought, war, lack of infrastucture, and exploitation of the envirment. Many poor households are forced to spend more than half of their incomes to eat. One billion people around the world are trying to survive on 80 cents.

where are people hungry Africa, Asia, and the Pacific have the largest amount of chronic hunger.

What can be done to help end world hunger? Stop hunger now is an international hunger relief organization. It provides food and life saving aid around the world. Many schools have food drives. Money can be donated to help feed the hungry.
