People Who Help Us Reception

The local firefighters came to school with their fire engine.

They told us about all the equipment that they carry on their fire engine.

We waited patiently for a chance to sit inside the fire engine. Some of us needed help to climb up – It was so high.

We enjoyed sitting on the front of the engine.

The firefighter came into the classrooms. He showed us a smoke alarm and said we should all have one in our house.

We found out that if there was lots of smoke in our house we should get down low and crawl out.

The firefighters will come to your house and check your smoke alarms. They will fit smoke alarms for free if you don’t have one.

We also had a visit from a policeman.

O Ian Kirby is a policeman at the Hatfield Police Station. O He told us about his job. O One of the best parts of his job is meeting lots of different people. O He told us about police dogs and horses. O We found out about different police vehicles too.

We tried on the different types of hats that he brought with him.

We loved the police car. He showed us how to make the lights and siren go!

We now have a police station in our classroom.
