Where is Salt Lake County? Salt Lake County is north of Utah County (the county we live in) and is bordered on the east and west by mountains.
History Salt Lake County was first inhabited by the Ute and Shoshone Indian Tribes. There were some trappers who used the Salt Lake County area for hunting/trapping as well. Brigham Young led the Mormon Pioneers into Salt Lake County in Salt Lake City was established by the Mormon Pioneers and it became the state capital.
