 Ethical Reasoning (5 out of 5)  Empathy (4 out of 5)  Active Listening (3 out of 5)  Making a Positive Impression (5 out of 5)  Assertiveness (4 out of 5)  Making People Feel Important (4 out of 5)

 Being more empathetic to others  Improving active listening skills  Becoming more assertive  Making others feel better  Not being too “strait laced” with ethical tendencies  Avoid being too empathetic so as not to be taken advantage of by others

 Karen – As a teacher leader I need to distinguish between listening which is also known as ‘active listening’ and to learn this technique. This will help especially when used in communication when paying attention to the speaker and providing feedback. Furthermore I will work on stopping translating the words that are spoken by focusing on the speaker.  Abeer – I will work on posing quality characteristics such as empathy to view things from other’s points of view and allow them to understand me in a better manner.  Frank – I will strive to set an example for my students and mentees by showing the best parts of myself in my assertiveness and positive outlook. I will be aware of ethical issues and guide my mentees through difficult questions of issues that may be troubling to them by the virtue of my experience and so empathy towards the problems and difficulties they may face by listening to them in earnest and showing concern while being honest with them which they would expect. This show of honesty and empathy will help in making them feel better about their situation and about themselves as a person and as a student.  Ashley – To remain a strongly ethical mentor/coach who makes my students feel important.  Samantha –I will strive to become more assertive and less passive by improving my confidence and self-awareness. I will accomplish this by trusting my own judgment, looking to my experience and skills, and challenging myself to accomplish my goals. I will also work on speaking up to express my opinions while maintaining a respectful and professional relationship with others.

I've never made a mistake. I've only learned from experience. Intelligent humans learn from experience. —Thomas A. Edison (BrainyQuote, 2014) In order to grow and prosper in the coach and mentor program, it is necessary to possess many strengths which will contribute to Learning Team D’s abilities to effectively coach or mentor others. The passion of an educator should be helping people grow into their full capacity. With a little help and learning we hope to become the “mentors” and “coaches” who can make a difference in each person we meet. Learning from each team member, and focusing how to handle new challenges from each of these activities, will help us as a team carry forth on working on our goals in order to reach our full potential.
