The techniques that were used were panning, cradling, pudding, shaft mining, open cast mining and sluicing.
For panning and cradling you will need 1 pan, and for dry blowing you will need 2 pans. For pudding you will need a wooden stake or paddle, large container, clay and water. For shaft mining you will need a pick and a bucket to mine underground and for open pit mining you need explosives and a bulldozer.
O Cradles: shove the cradle in the creek beds and move it backwards and forth and gold will wash up on the cradle. It was usually made out of wooden liquor boxes. O Puddling: a clay and gold mixture was put into a large container and filled with water. As it was stirred with a paddle or a wooden stake, the clay would dissolve and the gold would sink to the bottom.
I think that the cradle is the easiest type of mining tool because there is a great amount of gravel and dirt tested.
