Presentation transcript:

NETBALL – Chest Pass  Technique  Flat pass  Both hands behind the ball in ‘W’ shape  Elbows down and push ball directly and hard at team mate  When passing step forward to generate more power

NETBALL – Bounce Pass  Technique  A bounce pass can be one or two-handed  When you're ready to make your pass, hold the ball at chest height.  This will give you the extra push you need just before you release the ball.  Make sure your fingers are pointing towards the floor of the court.  Stand with one of your feet forward so you can bend your knees as you make the pass.  You need to release the ball from waist height.  Aim the ball just over halfway between you and the receiver.  Flick your wrists as you release the ball.  And don't forget to extend your arms as you make the pass to keep the ball on the right path.

Passing Drills  Line Passing (1)  In groups split in to 2 lines with a feeder. Players run in (one at a time) receive the ball then pass to next player in line. Join back of queue.  Line Passing (2)  2 lines of players with a ball at the front of each line. 2 feeders placed in middle diagonally apart from each other. Pass first to the closest feeder, sprint forwards and receive the ball again. Turn to face the next feeder and pass again. Sprint forwards and receive the ball back, pass ball on to the opposite line of players. Join the end of this line. Drill begins again.

NETBALL - Shoulder Pass  Technique  The ball should rest on the fingertips of the throwing hand - protected until the very last moment by the non-throwing hand.  the foot on the opposite side to your throwing arm is best placed in front of your body.  Fully straighten the throwing arm following through with your entire arm, and transferring all weight onto your front foot.  Try to aim as near to vertical as possible: the ball should take the shortest route between you and the receiver, and that is always a straight line.

4 passes to score  Basically you play in the half court.  You have 2 teams, the objective is for each team to try to get 4 consecutive passes.  Players may not dribble or run with the ball.  The team without the ball must try to get the ball off the other team, however they can only do this by intercepting the pass, they may not take the ball out of their opponents.  The team without the ball must stay 2 steps away from the person with the ball. Have your players man up.  When a team gets 4 passes in a row they get 1 point. The first team to 7 points wins.  To make it harder add the rule - "you can't pass to the person who just passed it to you" and/or increase the number of passes to get 1 point.  After scoring a point the team with the ball places it down on the spot and the other team picks it up.

PASSING CIRCLE PURPOSE: Chest pass, bounce pass and overhead pass  Make a circle about 20 feet across. Put one player in the middle with a ball. The middle player passes to everyone in turn around the circle. After everyone has received a pass the next player enters the middle. Continue until everyone has been in the middle.  After you improve at this, try starting the ball on the circle and passing it in. After each pass, the passer follows the pass and takes the place of the person that caught the pass.

DOWN THE LINE PURPOSE: Pass to and from a moving player  Line every player except one in a line side by side.  The remaining player begins with the ball and passes to the player on the right end of the line.  Then the passer shuffles left, receives the pass back, and passes to the next player in line.  At the end of the line, the passer passes to the player at the other end who becomes the new passer.  The original passer takes the spot at the left end of the line.

NETBALL - Shooting  Technique  Stand in a balanced position facing the goal  Ball held high above head (away from defenders arms)  Ball sits on one hand (fingers) with other hand supporting  Bend your knees and elbows keeping your hands high and focus on the goal  Extend knees and elbows and flick the ball off your fingers – push the ball high to allow it to fall into the net  End the shot with arms high and hands following the ball into the net

NETBALL - Shooting  Follow Your Shot  White player 1 throws to Blue player 1, then runs into circle and receives ball back. White player 1 then shoots, collects ball, passes to Red player 1 and joins the back or the Red players line. Red player 1 does the same from the other side.  The aim is to receive the shot, quickly adjust your body position to get into a good shooting position and make the shot.  Having made the shot react quickly to make the rebound, get into position and pass to the opposite side. Direction of player Direction of ball Players

Netball – Court Positions  Player positions at the start of a game and after each goal is scored
