Transient Osteoporosis
Transient osteoporosis of the hip can occur during pregnancy, although the incidence is fairly low. It is self-limiting and reversible.

Signs and Symptoms Progressive hip pain Referred to the lateral thigh Pain develops shortly before or during the last trimester Aggravated by weight bearing Pain subsides after delivery Radiograph appearance returns to normal within several months after delivery
PT Implications No protocol has been standardized due to lack of knowledge about the cause, but conservative care of possible fracture is indicated.
