Service learning and Volunteering

Service learning or learning through democratic education is an opportunity for students to learn the value of community service through first-hand experience in a non- profit placement

 Obligatory since (experimental since 2008)  All students in secundary education (12-18 years)

 Not a subject but part of curriculum  Non-profit organisation  30 hrs total per student

 30 hrs (spread over 2 year)  Not in time table ( 1000 hrs year)  Preparations in class (Pascal; religious lessons)  Groupwise or individually; daily/weekly etc.

 Administration, guidance,  Accountability by coordinator  Conditional for final exams  labour agreement per internship  Cooperation with Municipality Parents/internship providers

Financial  €60 per student per year (year 1-4)  financed by state government  Labour costs  Administration costs  Organisation  Materials
