Advancing Technology

Open Gesture Gesture Controlled User Interface (GCUI) prototype Open source application Started around 2011 Allows users to control home settings (turn on/off lights, make a phone call, etc) Recognize hand gestures by using image processing technology and visualization

Open Gesture in Use

Results Tasks were completed 100% Most users enjoyed using a Gestured-based application

Future Work Will consider using more than just hand gestures Example: nodding to accept request, waving to proceed to next task, etc. Allow users to select these tasks on their own television screen instead of computer screen
