Adaptations and traits of organism final assessment-animal power point Daniel Ibarra Chimpanzee March 2013

Mammals A mammal for example is like a chimpanzee Mammal usually has fur or hair and gives live birth

Reptiles A reptile for example is like a komodo dragon Reptiles usually are cold blooded and lay eggs

Birds A bird for example is like a blue jay Birds usually have wings and breathe air through lungs

Fish A fish for example is like a salmon Fish usually have scales and breathe through gills

Amphibians An amphibian for example is like a tree frog Amphibians usually are able to be in water and out on land

Adaptations An adaptation is like a animal or human changes due to something like the weather. Like in the winter, bears hibernate and birds fly south

Species adaptations or individual adaptation A species adaptation is like how the whole species adapt together and a individual adaptation is how the animal or human improves it’s chance of survival in a specific environment

How do animals adapt An animal adapts by using camouflage, hibernating, migrating and mimicry. Like a bear hibernates, a chameleon uses camouflage, a frog uses mimicry to make itself look bigger, and birds migrate so the won’t freeze and die

Genetics and Heredity The definition for genetics is the study of heredity and the variation of inherited characteristics The definition for heredity is the passing on of physical or mental characteristics genetically from one generation to another

Inherited traits A trait or character that is genetically inherited or passed down from generation to generation Examples: tongue rolling, tongue flipping earlobes either attached or unattached

Non-inherited traits A non-inherited trait is something that you weren’t born with. Like riding a bicycle or playing a musical instrument

Fossils The definition for fossils is the remains Or impression of a prehistoric Organism preserved in petrified form As a mold or cast in rock. Fossils Provide a lot of information like they Help us know about prehistoric living creatures

My animal The animal I chose to research is a Chimpanzee

Environment and Habitat My animal chimpanzee lives in the Tropical rain forest and wet savannas. While they spend equal time on land And trees they do most of their feeding And sleeping in trees

characteristics The chimpanzee’s characteristics and Inherited traits are pretty much the Same as human characteristics

Structures and Function The chimpanzee has a structure that helps It survive. Like it’s longish arms that’s a structure and the function is to helped It swing from trees to escape predators

Fun Facts A chimpanzee is a omnivore witch means It eats meat an vegetables. Did you know that chimps are the closest to the humans in the animal kingdom. I saw a movie of a chimp attacking its owner once so that means they can get wild.
