TECHNOLOGY INTERGRATION IN EDUCATION InTECHgration TECHNOLOGY INTERGRATION IN EDUCATION

Introduction: A Commitment to High Tech Education | Edutopia Technology is ubiquitous ,touching almost every part of our lives ,our communities ,our homes. Yet most schools lag far behind when it comes to integrating technology into classroom learning. Properly used technology will help students acquire the skills they need to survive in a complex , highly technological knowledge-based economy. Here is a video about technology integration I would like you to have a look at. A Commitment to High Tech Education | Edutopia

Here a question rises : Is technology in the classroom fad or here to stay? Intechgration is a popular idea which is gaining followers each day , and when I was wondering about the answer I found it in a blog by Shannon D. a teacher interested in technology integration .Shannon was also asking does technology really improves the learning that happens in the classroom ? We both think yes because it is important to know that ‘’ the top 10 in..demand jobs in 2010 didn’t exist in 2004…we are currently preparing students for jobs that don’t yet exist …using technologies that haven’t been invented ..in order to solve problems we don’t even know are problems yet ..’’

What is effective technology integration? Effective technology integration is achieved when its use supports curricular goals. It must support 4 key components of learning: Active Engagement Participation in groups Frequent interaction Feedback and connection to real world

What is effective teaching and how can technology lead to it? Effective teaching must provide the students with 7 skills: Critical thinking and problem solving Collaboration across networks and leading by influence Agility and adaptability Initiative and entrepreneurialism Effective oral and written communication Accessing and analyzing information Curiosity and imagination

What is effective teaching and how can technology lead to it? The best way for teachers to teach these skills is through these 3 trends which include technology: Collaboration Technology powered Blended

What does these terms stand for: Collaboration : A collaborative learning environment will give the students a chance to practice skills such as being able to adapt and change , effectively communicate , think critically ,solving problems and take initiative . Therefore the use of social media and technology in general is a good way of collaboration .

What does these terms stand for: Tech-Powered : Technology helps grasp the student attention and makes the learning environment more authentic and connected to the students lives outside the classroom .

What does these terms stand for: Blended : The blended trend is basically making use of computers along with traditional teaching . When the technological tools are integrated properly teaching the skills mentioned above becomes easier .

Benefits of technology integration in education : Technology benefits the students with special needs : Students with Dyslexia improved significantly in reading ability when a computer remediation program ‘’Fast Forward Language ‘’ was used . Technology benefits At- Risk students : The Pittsburg (PUMP) found that students that may be disruptive in the classroom are more engaged and cooperative when using technology to learn .Which leads to a better attitude towards learning .

Benefits of technology integration in education : Technology improves attitude towards learning : Most research tends to support the correlation of improved attitude with technology . Technology provides individualized learning : Technology (computers ) allows students to take control of the rate of learning and helps them to avoid embarrassment by allowing them to learn and make mistakes in a non-public manner .

Benefits of technology integration in education : Technology acts as a catalyst for a change in the way of learning of the students . Technology prepares students for the future .

Conclusion : Technology changes the way teachers teach , offering educators effective ways to reach different types of learners and assess students understanding through multiple means . It also enhances the relationship between teacher and student . When technology is effectively integrated into subject areas teachers grow into roles of advisers content experts and coaches . Technology helps make teaching and learning more meaningful and fun .
