TYPES OF MOVEMENT
3 Types of movement: 1. Locomotor – movement of the body from place to place (gross motor) 2. Nonlocomotor – movement of the body while staying in one place (helps develop balance and coordination) 3. Manipulative – movement that involves controlled use of the hands and feet (fine motor)

4 Concepts of Movement 1. Body – what is the body doing (walk, hop, run, etc.) 2. Effort – describes how the movement is done (slowly, quickly, etc.) 3. Space - describes direction the movement takes place (forward, sideways, under, etc.) 4. Relationship – describes the interaction between the person and objects in environment ( around chair, to the door, etc.)
