GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 10 Mounting R2 on R1+R3

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 11 Unloading fiber holders from R2 giradischi

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_ /11/2005: Disk 1 is finished !

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 13 And now Transportation ! Disk + Giradischi + Aluminium plane ~ 50 Kg of total weight (70 kg= 1cm compression) 11 antivibration blocks used. 43 N/each  6 Hz dumping freq.  Thanks to Firenze for 6 of the 11 blocks ! Cr6-300

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 14 Suspension bar is inserted Giradischi is ready with the anti-vibration layer Outside the cleanroom

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 15 Entering into S.Piero building Truck arrived: 8 hours night Km/h Down to land with forklift Transpallet : 1cm leaft on each side of door Forklift truck: land to entrance

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_ curios people around the unknown !...or pure idolatry ?

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 17 Disk 3 mechanics sent to Torino Cover put back on jubox Same treatment as Disk1 but faster travel

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 18 Right Timing for Disk1 transportation : that’s what happened on the way back !

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 19 Current Status Ready for the burn-in (next Monday). Configuration and tooling to be used for the insertion into the service cylinder.

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 20 MTCC (Bari, Catania, Perugia, Padova) 2 dohms L3: 15 strings (7 ext and 8 int) single sided modules (512 strips) L2: 5 strings (3 ext and 2 int) double sided modules (768 strips) 11 meduse 1 Database strips

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 21 L2/L3 integration – positioning Actual position Minimum distance achievable 9 cm 5 cm

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 22 L2/L3 burnin – overview General overview: + L3 is ok + L2 external is ok + L2 internal has some problem still to be understood L2 L3 S3 S4 S5 a/b c/d e/f Double sided modules “panini”

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 23 L2/L3 burnin – time scan 2 problems with L2: 2 modules with bad tickmarks modules in ccu 3f-1e 5f-1f S3Int S4Int 1 channel with high baseline a dirty fiber

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 24 L3 – noise – 15 strings of L3 (deconvolution mode)

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 25 L3 – noise – 15 strings of L3 (deconvolution mode)

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 26 L2 – noise – distribution (deconvolution mode) Work still to be done to optimize system performance for the MTCC

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 27 Burn-in The burn-in activity is in production since the beginning of November. Final grounding (corona DOM/MC/cooling manifolds) and shielding of the digital signals. New software/daq. We read-out an entire half- shell. Main recent improvements: NEW CHILLER : ABLE TO COOL DOWN A WHOLE HALF SHELL SMALL INTERLOCK SYSTEM RUNNING (THANKS TO MACHI)

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 39 I2C during burn-in A total of 11 modules, all grade A from ARCS and LT tests, fail I 2 C communication during cold test of semi-cylinders (L4 up and down, L3 down) 9 of them are located in position 1A (the farthest from CCU) 1 is located in the middle position 1B 1 in the nearest one to the CCU 1C All these modules have been replaced and now everything works fine There is no clear explanation yet

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 40 A closer look in the DB… In central DB the hybrid batch ID is stored: ModuleHybridBatch ID _TIB4PD _TIB4PD _TIB4PD _TIB4PD _TIB4PD _TIB4PD _TIB4PD _TIB4PD _TIB4PD _TIB4PD _TIB4PD ALL the faulty modules come from the same batch, produced on 15 Dec 2003

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 41 Actions Investigations are under way to understand if there are peculiarities on these hybrids and/or APV. Further tests are foreseen on the remaining modules of the same batch. The integration of the modules belonging to the suspicious batch is put in hold for the moment (non effect on the plan for the integration so far L3-L4 backward) Person in charge to collect all data Marco Meschini.

GuidoTonelli /TK_GM/CERN/07_12_05 42 Status and plans Goals: 1. Transport TIB/TID+ to CERN by January 30* 2. Transport TIB/TID- to CERN by April 06. *2 weeks delay(1 week implementation of the big chiller; 1 week change of modules belonging to suspicious batch)
