SketchUp Intro concepts of SketchUp

SketchUp Intro concepts of SketchUp …draw something, push/pull it into 3D …use orbit, zoom and pan from the tool bar …use orbit, zoom and pan with your mouse and shift key

SketchUp Intro drawing shapes

SketchUp Intro drawing shapes …draw a shape on the red axis …draw a shape on the green axis …draw a shape on the blue axis …while you are drawing these shapes, practice the “inferring” technique …try drawing the rectangle and splitting it into 4 equal rectangles…use your inference points and make sure not to cross existing edges …save your work as Assignment 1

SketchUp Intro modify tools

SketchUp Intro modify tools …move to another spot in your model space …draw some random shapes on all of the different axes …use the push/pull tool to practice making these 2D shapes into 3D forms …draw 4 more random shapes; push/pull the first shape to 3 feet second shape to 10 inches third shape to 15 centimeters fourth shape to 4.5 meters …using these same four shapes, try the inferring method shown in the video...save your work

SketchUp Intro modify tools …create different shapes and try to push/pull openings in these shapes …can you create a shape that is not parallel so you can see how the opening won’t work? …try using the move tool: select one edge an move it select an entire shape and move it select an entire shape and move it so it is touching another shape try moving that shape again—what happens? …save your work

SketchUp Intro create a chair

SketchUp Intro assignment #1: create a chair … move to another spot in your model space …follow all the steps in the video, watch it as many times as necessary to complete the chairs …save your file as “Assignment 1—your name” …“hand in” your assignment using the mysite dropbox
