Akha For Dummies ALL OF THE SIMPLE WAYS OF THIS AMAZING ETHNIC TRIBE IN A SNAP! ALLYSSA FOSTER 2ND PERIOD

Akha Language and Religion The main language of the Akha is Akha. It is closely related to Lisu the language of Northern Burma. The top religions are Animism, Zavh, Christianity, and Buddhism. While you may of heard of Christianity and Buddhism Zavh and Animism are closely related and are very superstitious and religious and Zahv believes that Akhas are very close with nature and the land.

Where are the Akha? The Akha are found all over South East Asia. They are know as Hill people so usually somewhere in the mountains. They are found in Thailand, Burma, Laos, Yannan and China. They have a population of about 449,261

History The Akha originated in China. Later they spread out during the Laos and Burma Civil War. A lot is unknown about their history.

Culture Akha have a very interesting culture. They have very Bright ceremonial clothing and the Women wear headdresses. The women wear Headdresses so other Akhas can recognize their age and status. They live in a traditional economies and hunt and gather their own food.

Akha Problems Akha people live in the traditional economies and trying to farm in the mountains couldn’t be easy for them or for anyone. Now with all the new pollution and other changes it is becoming even harder to live in their new life. Most Akhas do not want to give up part of their culture and ancestry to go and live in a city or buy from a grocery store so what are they to do ? Also they are being mistreated in their society and environment by government officials and other people. They have a traditional economy so they don’t own ID cards or credit cards or things like that. Some Akhas are being arrested for having no ID. They are not up to date on medicine and they are being forced to take vaccines against there will.

Akha solutions Missionaries are being sent out for support. A lot of people in the Akha society are suffering from mistreatment from Thai and Burmese people against there will. But hopefully in the long run it will help them survive in there mountain habitat and let there culture thrive.

Conclusion In the end the Akha are a amazing people that are far from redemption. But they are still a great people that more people need to know about. They have a very interesting culture with all sorts of religions. Not many people can survive what the Akha go through every day. The Akha are a great people and an amazing ethnic group
