Information on the Muscular System The muscular systems purpose for the body is that it controls movement of the body. Without the muscles we would have nothing to protect our bones and could not move them. Also it helps the heart’s pumping action and helps food go through the gut. Muscles can pull and contract. We have over 630 muscles that move us. 40% of your body weight is muscles. If we did not have any muscles then we would not be able to eat or get up to get food from the store. Our muscles help our bones to move. Like sports people get their muscles so the can play good and win. We would die without our muscles we could not move, our lungs could not help us breath, and our hearts could not pump blood for us.

The Three Kinds of Muscles The three kinds of muscles are the skeletal, smooth, and the cardiac muscles. The skeletal muscle is a moveable muscle and they react quickly. These muscles are attached to your bones. They provide your bones the force that moves them. Skeletal muscles are straitened because they appear to be banned. The smooth muscles are not moveable you have no control. You can find these muscles in the stomach, blood vessels, liver, and lungs which are internal organs. They control the movements for the digesting food, when your stomach growls, and your lungs expanding so you can breath. The cardiac muscles are also muscles you can not move. They are found only in the heart. They are straitened like the skeletal muscles. Smooth Muscle Cardiac Muscle Skeletal Muscle

Types of Diseases of the Muscular System There are two types of muscular diseases, they are: Muscular Dystrophy and Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Muscular Dystrophy (MD) it is a genetic diseases that can damage and weaken the facial, limb, breathing, and heart muscles. It is cause by a lack of protein that you need for a proper function of the muscles. Usually you can put fat to make the muscles normal. Spinal Muscular Atrophy is a disease that affect the muscle movement control. It is caused by a loss of specialized nerve cells called motor neurons in the spinal cord which is connected to the brain (brain stem). The loss of the motor neurons leads to weakens and shrinks the atrophy of the muscles. It weakens the muscles and prevents activities such as crawling, walking, sitting up, and controlling head movement.

How you can keep your muscles healthy You can keep your muscles healthy by exercising on a daily basis. Always eat healthy foods. Play a sport to make your muscles healthy. Stretch before you go exercise. Drink more WATER than SOFT DRINKS so your muscles will stay strong, all the time. Also you could run or walk on a treadmill.
