Cinderella Cinderella is a fairy tale that is make believe but to me it means a lot more. 2

Cinderella’s Mean Family Once upon a time there was a beautiful girl named Cinderella. She had a mean step mother and two jealous step sisters who were not as beautiful as Cinderella. They treated Cinderella like a maid and not part of their family. They made Cinderella do all the chores around the house. She has to wash the floors by hand, sweep, do all the laundry, clean the whole house, and take care of the pet cat. Cinderella had to work all day long and only at night she would sit by the cinders. This is how Cinderella got her name. 3

Going to the Ball One day beautiful dresses arrived at Cinderella’s house. Her step mother told Cinderella that there was a ball at the Prince’s castle and only her step mother and two step sisters were allowed to go. She had to stay home, clean the house, and turn down the beds for them. Cinderella was sad. The cat looked at Cinderella and said “meow” which meant cheer up. 4

The Fairy Godmother Cinderella decided to sew a dress for herself so she could attend the ball. The evil stepmother and her two step sisters saw her dress and ripped it apart. The stepmother and two sisters left for the ball and Cinderella was home by herself feeling very sad and crying. Then all of a sudden Cinderella saw a bright shining light heading towards her and a fairy godmother appeared. The fairy godmother told Cinderella don’t feel sad, you want to go to the ball and you shall! The fairy flicked her wand and Cinderella was in the most beautiful, blue sparkly dress that she ever saw. Next, the fairy godmother turned a pumpkin into a beautiful coach, seven mice into six white horses and a coachman. The fairy godmother warned Cinderella that she must be home before midnight. 5

Cinderella Goes to the Ball The prince was very bored at the ball. He didn’t like any of the young ladies there including Cinderella’s cruel step sisters. Then Cinderella’s coach pulled up and out came the prettiest girl the prince has ever seen. Cinderella and the prince started to dance at the ball and it was dreamy. The clock struck 12 and Cinderella ran out to her coach, leaving one of her glass slippers behind. The prince picked up her slipper and swore that he would find her. Cinderella made it home just in time before the coach and the horses turned back into a pumpkin and mice. 6

The Prince Finds Cinderella The prince told his ministers to go out with the glass slipper and find Cinderella. The ministers arrived at Cinderella’s house. The evil stepmother locked Cinderella in her room and warned her not to come out. The stepsisters tried putting their feet into the glass slipper but it didn’t fit. Then Cinderella’s mice friends unlocked her door and she went down the stairs and said, “Wait, please let me try on the slipper.” The glass slipper broke but Cinderella had the other one. It fit and the ministers took Cinderella back to the prince and they lived happily ever after! 7

The Lesson Learned of Cinderella The lesson that is learned from the story of Cinderella is that one should never give up and fight evil through hard work and a good heart. Cinderella looks forward and dreams of the possibilities of a better life and maintains a positive attitude while holding onto hope. We learn the importance of hard work and its reward towards the end as in the case of Cinderella. The End 8
