Who the course is for?: Would you like a challenging career working with computers? This course provides a route into the diverse and fast moving computing profession, giving you knowledge and practical skills across a range of areas. It is suitable if you have studied at Level 3 (or equivalent) and would like to progress into a number of career paths including programming, web development and software development.

Entry requirements: Academic requirements: - In general, you will need a minimum of 140 UCAS tariff points from any full Level 3 qualification including A Levels or BTEC Extended Diploma, plus five GCSE passes at Grade C or above including both Mathematics and English or equivalent - Alternatively, successful completion of any Access to Higher Education programme at Coleg Llandrillo will provide a suitable preparation for applying for this course. The Business Administration Access to Higher Education course is particularly suitable - If you do not have the above qualifications you may be considered on an individual basis through a demonstration of relevant experience, potential and motivation - Students with relevant equivalent overseas qualifications will be considered Language requirements: - Good proficiency in English, with equivalent GCSE grade C or above - Any degrees, diplomas or certificates eligible above should have been taught and assessed in English - For overseas applicants, for entry onto Level 4: English fluency to TOEFL 525 or higher (with no element less than 500), or IELTS 5.5 or higher (with no element less than 5.0) - For overseas applicants, for entry onto Level 5: English fluency to TOEFL 550 or higher (with no sub-part less than 525), or IELTS 6.0 or higher (with no sub-part less than 5.5)

How you will study The course is delivered through a blend of the following: - Lectures - Tutorials - Workshops - Lab work - Student centred learning - Virtual learning environment (MOODLE) How you will be assessed The course is assessed through a blend of the following: - Practical and theoretical assignments - Time-constrained assessments - Reports and essays - Analysis of case studies - Oral presentations - Microteaching - Seminar papers - Project work - Portfolios - Work-based assessment - Examinations - Group/team-based assignments - Log books and reflective work

Your options after the course: This Foundation Degree can lead to a number of options in education and in employment. Many students will choose to progress onto Level 6 and complete a full Honours degree, such as the BSc Applied Computing at Glyndŵr University. You may also choose a more specialist degree course, or a professional qualification in CISCO CCNA or Microsoft MCP, MCDST, MCSA, MCSE. If you choose to proceed directly into employment, you will find a wide variety of career possibilities in the public and private sectors, either self-employed or for a company. Potential roles include programmer, software developer, web designer or developer, multimedia programmer and IT consultant.
