Temple College Announces a Search for an Associate Vice President, Distance Education The Associate Vice President, Distance Education (AVPDE) is one of two Associate Vice Presidents who work under the general supervision of the Vice President, Educational Services. The AVPDE will oversee the ongoing direction, development, delivery, assessment, and on-going improvement of Distance Ed, dual credit, and off-site courses (including the incorporation of enrollment management and student services) offered through Temple College. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience with pay based on Temple College’s Professional Salary Schedule, PL-9

The ideal candidate for the position will: 1.Hold a Master’s Degree in appropriate field of study 2. Have at least 7 years of work experience in Higher Education with 4 of the 7 years consisting of directly related work experience in Distance Education 3. Recommend to the Vice President, and the Executive Staff, a model to address and achieve anticipated enrollment growth in on-line and dual-credit programs including necessary financial and technological infrastructure 4. Provide direction and development of the College Distance Ed program which includes the Virtual College of Texas (VCT), dual credit, and off-site courses. May include oversight and direction of off-site campus centers. Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the position will: 5. Supervise, coordinate, plan, and implement the delivery of Distance Ed and dual credit courses and services in cooperation with department chairs and division directors. 6. Coordinate the development and publication of course offerings and semester schedules with the Enrollment Management Division, department chairs and division directors. 7. Seek out, coordinate, and prepare grant applications for continued funding and support the operation of the Distance Ed program 8. Supervise the Virtual University Center Grant Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the position will: 9. Initiate contacts, negotiate, develop articulation and collaborative agreements, and maintain relationships established with business, external organizations, and educational institutions. 10. Assist in the on-going implementation of assessment of student learning in on-line and dual credit courses. 11. Lead and develop faculty training to support the development of on-line classes. 12. Provide ongoing evaluation of processes and procedures for continuous improvement. Qualifications

The ideal candidate for the position will: 13. Conduct surveys and feasibility studies for policy formation and improvement of services. 14.Serve on President’s executive staff. 15. Coordinate the development and preparation of marketing and promotional plans and materials. 16. Make presentations to appropriate groups or organizations, 17. Develop, coordinate, and train online student services to faculty, staff and students which include but are not limited to advising, online library access, payments and other associated duties. Founded in 1926, Temple College is one of the oldest public community colleges in Texas. It was originally located in the basement of Temple High School, and enrolled less than one hundred students. Today, TC is located on a modern 106 acre campus, with off-site centers in Taylor, Cameron, and downtown Temple. Enrollment for the Fall 2005 semester was more than 3,900 credit students Always known for its excellent faculty and general academic programs, TC has also gained a statewide reputation for its programs in the Health Professions and the Fine Arts, as well as for its numerous credit and non- credit programs addressing the training and educational needs of business and industry. There are nine colleges and universities within 40 miles of Temple.
